Deserts

I’m not quite sure
Why rays of light
Burn white and hot
In my soul
When I think of you;
But it moves me
Up and out of myself.
My lips tingle,
Vibrating with past kisses.
My skin smolders
In a desert of loneliness.
The wind whispers
And your name tumbles out;
A quiet echo
In the vast silence
That is my existence.
