My Notebooks

college ruled loose leaves
like ragged carnival tickets
hawking yesterday’s thrill ride
up around my thick skull, twice,
down through my scar-riddled ribs,
and out the rose-blossomed hole
where my too-big heart lived,
once upon a time.
